His representative Cindi Berger said in a statement: “John Legend and his girlfriend, model Chrissy Teigen, got engaged over the holidays while vacationing in the Maldives.”
No further information about the proposal or the couple’s wedding plans have been made public.
Following their break to the Maldives, Legend and Teigen — who have been in a relationship for over four years — flew to Thailand to spend time with the 26-year-old model’s parents and sister.
As well as catching up with their loved ones, the couple even found the time to undertake a number of cooking classes.
Teigen tweeted: “Did another vacation cooking class! This one wasn’t quite as interactive — everything was already chopped and measured and chopping is pretty much our favourite thing ever. Pad Thai, Panang curry, and som tum, or papaya salad.”
While it is unknown when the couple will return from their break, John, 32, is scheduled to perform at The Pearl at the Palms in Las Vegas on New Year’s Eve.
